Food production as for example in agriculture and the context of food consumption shapes the territory and with it partially our identity. From old seeds to traditional community bakeries, the worked territories are related to us; food consumption can be understood as socio political statement or at least lead to awareness of the importance and richness of local food.
The artist Massimo Sacchetti showed in his installtion an example of the above mentioned aspects by using old bread and bringing in alpine Valle d’Aosta region (in north-west Italy) traditions.
About the Artist:
Massimo Sacchetti is a refined and curious artist. He is animated by a positive disquietude, which drives him to experiment always new aesthetical and creative directions in his work using diverse materials with mastery and authentic poetry. Sacchetti is continuously putting himself at stake as a never released tension leads him beyond the artist’s self, in an unceasingly, stubborn and sometimes feverish research of the unknown lurking in the shadows and behind the appearances. He joined with great enthusiasm Social Soups, embracing the basic philosophy of this project, with an interpretation true to his personal poetry by using sculpturing technique. Massimo will work with the element of food, specifically with the kind of bread, which will be usually thrown away as it became old and hard, in order to create original sculptures assembled with old objects, found and chosen by the artist himself. To conclude Massimo’s Social Soups artist residency at the Villa Bombrini the artist, who is moreover a competent chef, offered the audience during a happening the hard bread. In this occasion he will show his creations made during the residence and will talk about his artistic poetry.
